After reading "The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka I also seen a similarity with the father-son relationship in "The Judgement”, they didn't really have a relationship, the sons were portray as the problem in their lives. In "The Metamorphosis” Gregor Samsa, woke up one day and realized he transformed in a disgusting bug. When Gregor was late for work his boss showed up at his home to see why he was late, when he finally saw Gregor insect body he was scared and shock. He had this horror looked on his face. Mrs. Samsa ,Gregor ’s mother fainted to the floor at the view of her son, and Mr. Samsa breaks down into tears.Gregor’s father provoke him about the way he look . While his sister tried and help out with the moving of his furniture out his room so he would have more space, dealing with how everybody else sees him ,Gregor’s mother was also one of the submissive character. Although she was helped out she could bear the fact that her son wasn't her son any more . However she begs Gregor’s live when his father didn't want to keep him alive. Because of the way he looked nobody wanted to be around him . He went into isolation, then comes hunger and pain. Nevertheless they felt it was time to rid of Gregor because he was becoming a strain to the family, they couldn't get anybody to rent to room out to because he was their he then started to smell. Finally when he died his death came as a relive to them ,it was like they were counting down the days for him to die. When he die the family was enable to move on with their lives like nothing ever happened .
In my opinion It seem like because of how the way Gregor were being treated by his father he felt alone , he felt like a bug that no one notice or cared for. Gregor's transformation was a kind of metaphor.
This is a really good response, Veneshia. What do you think the transformation is a metaphor of?
