Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 204 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

The Penal Colony

In this story it talked about an error in which a man who is referred to as the condemned was being executed for a crime he had no idea about. At the time the explorer who was from a different area was just there to observed how things go but was in fact surprised by what the officer was telling him. there was many things he didn't agree or accept or even understand but to him he was just a visitor and it was nothing he could do anyways. the execution was like no other the details were very graphic and they would torture the condemned man for 6 hours before he's executed. that's kind of crazy if you think about it and on top of that it was like a show to them , they would  let people come and watch, but that was all before the old governor died. after he died things started to change people were less interested in the executions, the officer found it a lot difficult to gt the parts he needed to repair the machine. the whole story was confusing to me honestly because after reading it i started to think what was the point.
