Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 204 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

The Judgement

"The Judgement" by Franz Kafka was an interesting but bizarre story about a son named Georg and his father. What confused me the most was how Georg's father made his "transformation" from the weak minded man he was for the most part of the story into a more vicious and "smarter" man when he reveals to Georg his knowledge on his marriage and tells him to kill himself at the end of the story. The fact that Georg jumping off a bridge was the end of the story makes a reader think of the kind of life Kafka had to write such stories like "The Judgement".
