Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 204 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

After reading The Judgement, The Country Doctor, and the beginning of The Metamorphosis, i realized that Kafkas way of writing is to confuse to the reader but then as you read more he some how makes a connection with it all. In the beginning of the Metamorphosis, it starts off by introducing us to Gregor Samsa who wakes up realizing he is a giant bug. That on its own is confusing!! how do you start of a story with a man waking up as a bug and then say his profession is a traveling salesman? How is a bug a traveling salesman?

  1. I never actually thought that it was ironic that he wakes up as a bug and that he is a traveling salesman. I always wondered why a bug would relate to the salesman other than both a bug and a salesman both travel to different places.
