Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 204 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Carpenter's Gothic

One thing I learned from the story that I didn't know before was understanding more or less of the kind of character Paul was in the story since before I was confused. He's an uneasy person that gets worked up easily even over meaningless things like the position of where the coffee table was on page 23. I also learned that he was hypocritical and really abusive. The one question I still have is: Would a character like Paul still be able to develop into an open-minded character with morals even after his repulsive actions in the first part of the story?
