Carpenter's Gothic

I think that he included this text to show the personality of this character. It makes me feel like she is a bit awkward. He includes dialogue through out the whole book; I think it's so it could be easier for the reader to play out the story their head. but at the same time it is hard because the characters in the book keep interrupting each other and it is hard to stay on track with it.
