Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 204 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Carpenter's Gothic

One thing i learned about this reading that I didnt know before was that each character has their own opinion and say when it comes to certain things. They all interrupt one another and try and get their point across. Liz, Billy, and Paul all have different personalities which makes them clash. Liz being fearful and nervous makes her clash with Paul and Billy. Paul is easily raged and angry while Billy is laid back and realistic.

One question that I still have...
Why does Gaddis rely heavily on dialogue when it comes to carrying out the plot?
What is so special about the dialogue that Gaddis believes will draw the readers in?
