Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 204 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Reading the first 10 chapters in this novel got me thinking on why is it that everything seems to be as if there is a higher "power" controlling another. the story is a bit confusing because its talking about a future world but yet discusses it as being after WW2. the idea of dialing certain codes in order to get a certain "feeling" put into got me thinking that these people are somewhat robots too. The story points out that there are bad robots, aka Nexus-6 that kill people, but then gives an example of Iran dialing codes in order to make herself feel depressed. So does this mean that she is a "good" robot or a human? this got me thinking... and what distinguishes the good and the bad robot. maybe the nexus 6 are programmed to kill cops because they programmer stated that they are the bad robots, that a question that got me thinking. but overall its a interesting story, reading about how they fight and try to find out if one is a robot or not and stuff, it makes you think a little about the wild imagination that Dick had back then.

David: the novel is after WWT, a fictional, probably nuclear war that happens between our WWII and the time of the book.
