Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 204 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Blade Runner
After watching the movie Blade Runner, I was able to compare the movie and the book fully and realize that there were several things different and left out from the book. Mercerism was a big topic in the books that was never revealed in the movie as well as the concept of owning a real animal like the sheep that Deckard had. The movie mainly revolved around the concept of empathy which was shown on both the humans and replicants but was enjoyable nontheless. I believe the movie had a better ending than the book with the last fight scene showing empathy from a replicant to a human and it proved that artificial beings can have feelings as well. I hoped that the movie would have just been more complete in terms of character development and had more hidden details that the book was only able to portray.
