Carpenter's Gothic -- Page 95.

Is the last paragraph (page 95) elaborating on this drawing (?) that Liz either drew or found of a man?? I'm confused as to what is going on lol. Heeeeelp please!

Carpenter's Gothic

After reading the beginning of the book "Carpenter's Gothic", by William Gaddis, it was very difficult to understand who was who or who was speaking .Although I haven't read must of the novel so far I can say that the story is about a Vietnam war . One of the character who goes by Liz , her husband Paul which is a Vietnam War veteran. From the few pages I have read the author use alto of dialogue. I believe he choose to tell the story in a dialogue way because he wanted to moves the story forward in a more straight way than having a narrator voice, he wanted to fit a voice with the characters. Nevertheless it seems like Paul wife also has a past similar to his. Paul the veteran who is married to Liz Booth, plan on leaving and going to Washington D, however Paul wasn't happy which results in a augment between the two. While trying to read the book I was also trying to understand what was really taking place , I thought because I only had a few minutes to read the book in the Library maybe that's why it was difficult on some levels, but as I continue to read i realized that the characters goes of topic a little make it more difficult to understand. For example Paul could be taking to this wife and the next minute he talk about something else. On the other hand I feel if I continue read the novel along with class discussions I would get a better understanding.

I think it's and original and ingenious way to write a story. It's surprisingly understandable once we are focus on the reading. Gaddis is brilliant in his art. The author write the story using dialog s i think to make the reader get into the skin of some of the characters. We can better understand them since we know everything from the perspective...

Carpenter's Gothic

I think that he included this text to show the personality of this character. It makes me feel like she is a bit awkward. He includes dialogue through out the whole book; I think it's so it could be easier for the reader to play out the story their head. but at the same time it is hard because the characters in the book keep interrupting each other and it is hard to stay on track with it.

I think this book is written differently because its trying to capture the way people are now. like for example there's many times we do not understand what someone is saying and in most cases the conversation would go the same as on page 26 in the Carpenter's Gothic and also people are involved in conversation that there not paying attention  100%  of the time so the conversation would also go the same way William Gaddis writes his dialogue .

The  Dialogue in Gothic, I think it is harder than other book that we read in class, because the author wants us to  read and stop and go back and read it once more time,focus and understand better.The author way of catching reader attention. It is complected  to understand because the author does not say who is the speaker rather its like he or she said. The author  does not name the character to make it realest.

In the "Carpenter's Gothic," I feel the author uses this way of telling the story because he wants us to picture this situation, like how a play or theater production would want us to picture it not as a set production but as if it was an actual family, or actual real life scene that we are seeing. He writes this story basically like a script. Many characters, during the conversation, such as the on on page 25, they do not really understand each other and the reason for that, is so we get the picture of how each character looks, based off how they sound. But I feel this also gives the idea that the characters are all focused and are trying to understand what each other is saying, because that is usually a normal reaction to a person when they are having trouble trying to figure out what a person with an accent is saying. I've also noticed that many of the conversations throughout the novel, it is usually a small number, mainly two people, and not a group of people talking.
